Acquired by an Important Montreal Estate, 1960s


The vase of a typical gu shape, rises from a splayed foot to a slightly raised and bulging mid-section and a flaring neck. The lower tiers are decorated with fruitful branches of peaches and pomegranate, and the necks are each painted with a different figural scene from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, one of which depicts “Yuanmen she ji,” with Lu Bu shooting an arrow at a spear to save Liu Bei from Yuan Shu. Mounted as lamps.
