Oxtounge Lake, located just south-east of Algonquin Provincial Park, was one of A.J. Casson’s most frequented sketching locations during this era of his career. The subtle and varied depictions of the lake’s currents and the striking structures of the clouds in this late-period example speak to the remarkable consistency of quality that Casson maintained throughout his long and storied life as an artist.
