PROVENANCE
By descent to the present Private Collection, Ontario
This work is from the same important collection that consigned lot 403 by Sir Frederick Grant Banting. The building is thought to be what is now the Miller Tavern, located near the intersection of Yonge Street and York Mills Road in Toronto.
A past owner of this work was a general practioner with an office on Danforth Avenue in Toronto. He was a colleague and schoolmate of Dr. Banting, both of them having attended the University of Toronto. This lot, along with lot 403, hung in his office for the duration of his career.
