This lot consists of two framed sets of 4 'states' of the ‘Labrador Sea’ serigraph, respectively 2, 3, 4 and 5; and 6, 7, 8 and HC. The dimensions listed are for one frame. Each print measures 8 x 10 inches.

A state is one of several distinguishable stages in the development of hand-made print, with each state showing a deliberate alteration of the design as the artist works towards the perfect image. This collection of 8 states of the ‘Labrador Sea’ serigraph present a wonderful insight into the artist’s working process. The eight states are numbered 2 to 8 plus an Hors Commerce final print.
