LITERATURE
Sophie Webel, Catalogue raisonné de l’œuvre gravé et des livres illustrés de Jean Dubuffet, vol. 1, Baudoin Lebon éditeur, Paris, 1991, n° 62, p. 37
"Pisseurs au mur" is plate 8 of the album "Les Murs" comprising 15 lithographs by Jean Dubuffet accompanying 12 poems by Eugène Guillevic. The plates, unnumbered and unsigned, were made by Dubuffet in 1945 at the Mourlot brothers printing house and the album was published by Éditions du Livre in Paris in 1950 in an edition of 172 numbered copies. The present print on Montval paper, size 38 x 28.5 cm, likely comes from the first edition of the album of 10 copies including two additional suites of lithographs on Japon paper and Montval paper. We thank Sophie Webel of the Fondation Dubuffet for her help in cataloguing this work.
