A label adhered to the board verso reads:
"Jasper Park * Canadian Rockies
According to information received from Mrs. Pilot, wife of the late R.W. Pilot, this is one of a number of paintings commissioned by the C.N.R. painted during the summer of 1950 in the Jasper area. This particular painting was done for Mr. Ben Deacon, publicity director of the C.N.R. and was sold at auction from his estate, in October 1972"
