PROVENANCE
A Distinguished Private Collection, Vancouver

Supported on a short ring foot, with rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim. Covered overall in a celadon glaze with a light brown wash to the mouth rim. The base with a double square "Jingwei tang zhi" hall mark in underglaze blue.

Jingwei Tang translates to the ‘Hall of Supreme Reverence’ and can be found on monochrome porcelain wares during the late 18th to mid 19th Century. Though typically found on dark blue dishes, a rare group of celadon wares bearing this mark does exist. This mark was recorded as being associated with the studio of Li Hu from Cixi, which in Modern day China is the city of Ningbo in Zhejiang province.
