LITERATURE
Andy Warhol: Campbell's Soup Cans, Museum of Modern Art, https://www.moma.org/learn/moma_learning/andy-warhol-campbells-soup-cans-1962/, accessed October 2, 2019
Andy Warhol debuted the iconic Soup Can in 1962 in his first solo exhibition, that featured 32 canvases painted with Campbell's soup cans. When asked why he chose the imagery of soup Warhol noted, "I used to drink it. I used to have the same lunch every day for twenty years." Now Warhol's Soup Cans have become synonymous with the Pop Art movement.
This work is a vintage Campbell's soup can that Warhol autographed. He would often do this at special events or gallery exhibitions, because people strongly associated the Campbell's soup cans with him.
