A matching pair of baluster vases, the bodies decorated in famille rose and blue and white enamels on a gilt painted ground of scrolling vines, each with two scenes within a leafy border, the first depicting a family flying a kite in a palatial garden, the second with an official seated in his garden feeding his birds, the covers each with wide rims and a fu-lion finial.
Albert Earnest Newberry was the owner of Newberry Antiques, a popular antique store on Fort Street in Victoria from the 1940s to the late 1960s.
