The globular body supported on a short ring foot, rising to a waisted neck and a flaring rim. Painted to the body with an auspicious scene of five boys at play in the garden, each holding propitious motifs including ruyi, lantern, wheat, spear (ji), and chime (qing), accompanied by three goats and bats. With a band of flower scrolls to the bottom, shoulder, and under the mouth rim. The neck is decorated with upright lappet designs, each flanked by a pair of iron red beast handles with gilt highlights. The base with a four character double square mark, “lingzhi chengxiang”, may the boys bring you fortune. Possibly a gift to celebrate a newborn.
