Romio Shrestha is a modern master of traditional Buddhist thangka painting. Born in Kathmandu, he was discovered at a young age to be the 17th reincarnation of Tibetan Thangka painter Arniko. His thangkas follow the traditional Indo-Nepali-Tibetan techniques in which he depicts enlightened beings, including Buddhas, bodhisattvas and guardians.

His works have been exhibited and acquired by collectors and major museums around the world. Some of his works are held in institutions, including the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin, the National Museum in Moscow, and the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
