PROVENANCE
Acquired directly from the Artist by Jean Ross Skoggard (1917-2003)
By descent to the present Private Collection, Toronto

Ink and colour on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll. Signed Mangdang shanren Wang Qingfang and inscribed "he ming chang qing," with one artist seal.

The Canadian artist, Jean Ross Skoggard (1917-2003), studied Chinese painting with Mr. Wang Qingfang during her visit to Beijing in 1948. During this time, she and other visiting artists from around the globe met and studied with other major painters of the 20th century China including Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Li Keran, and their fellow artists, when they were teaching at the National Art School in Beiping (Guoli Beiping Yishu Zhuanke Xuexiao). The presented painting was created as a gift to her during her stay.
