Frances-Anne Johnston was the daughter of celebrated Canadian artist Frank H. (Franz) Johnston. She attended North Toronto Collegiate and the Ontario College of Art, where she met her husband, artist Franklin Arbuckle. Johnston is well known for her accomplished interior studies. She exhibited with a number of societies, including the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
