Private Collection, Montreal


The historical Buddha seated in lotus position on a large tiered pedestal where two miniature robed figures adorn the front, the Buddha's left hand in the mudra of meditation while his right displays the mudra of no fear, all the while wearing a simple robe, the head with downcast eyes and tight whorls for the hair, flanking the main figure are two monks standing on lotus flowers. Remnants of lacquer gilding throughout.
